"AAAAaaapppple, my Dear?" The woman crooned. She held out the juiciest apple the gypsy had ever seen. The skin was a flawless green, and was polished to the point that it almost seemed to glow.

"Just a sweet treat for the FAIREST in the land..."

The young woman was skeptical. People rarely offered things for free, especially to gypsies. But, this apple seemed to beg to be eaten. It looked impossibly crisp, and the intoxicating scent was so sweet, it made her stomach grumble.

"Thank you..." She murmured, as the woman relinquished the apple. "Maybe just one bite..."

"One bite is all it will take..." the woman smiled. Her smile picked at the back of the gypsy's mind. It was eerily familiar, and yet, she couldn't quite place where she'd seen it before. She turned her attention back to the apple. She raised it to her lips and bit into the sweet flesh.

    Too sweet.

    Something was wrong.

The muscles in her jaw immediately seized up. Her body felt like it weighed a thousand pounds. She dropped to her hands and knees. The world around her started to spin and buckle.

"What...did you....DO?" She managed through clenched teeth.

"Only what's Fair!" The woman growled, but her eyes betrayed a nervousness she tried to hide. She backed away and then turned and fled as the world finally dimmed, and the apple fell to the ground.

Growing up, I was a fairly normal kid.  If I wanted to have a hamburger, Girl, you could bet I was going to have a hamburger.

The real trouble started, when I was about 18 years old. For some odd unknown reason, I got sick. Like, REALLY, Sick. Like, Lord, Please Take Me, Sick.

I had headaches 100% of the time. They were so constant, that I honestly thought it was normal for your head to hurt EVERY DAY!

I had this incessant nausea that never seemed to cease. I constantly felt full in my lower tummy and eating only caused my pain to worsen.

But, by far, the worst part was the lethargy. I could never seem to get out of bed. I went to sleep at normal hours, around 9-11, but I couldn't drag myself out of bed until about 10 in the morning. Now, this seems bad enough, but take into context that I was between 18 AND 22! And If you've ever been a person in your early twenties, you realize that you SHOULD be able to go out, Party until 1, and still get up at 7 for work, or school, or to enact your plan to brainwash the neighborhood squirrels into obeying your every command! (You win this round, Squirrels!)

But, that was IT. Something was wrong! So I swallowed my pride and took my pharmacaphobic butt, to the dreaded Doctor! (Insert thunder, lightning, and Wilhelm Screams here.)

She did some tests, and the results were bleak.

"Lauren," she said to me, "There's something I have to tell you..."

Oh, no, I thought, here it comes! My thoughts swirled in a panic thinking of what kind of horrible, debilitating disease I had. I was half finished planning my will when she told me the news.

"There's absolutely nothing wrong with you. You're completely healthy."

   Wait, What?

I was in CONSTANT pain, and this woman was telling me I was Healthy?? Something's not right!

She wasn't the last doctor I saw. I still felt nauseated and lethargic so I went to 2 more. (Sorry, Wallet) Both Saying the SAME THING! One even prescribed a nasal allergy spray. For my Stomachaches.
It was then that I realized that the doctors were testing my blood and trying to diagnose only a couple of my symptoms, but None of them did any tests on my gut, which was where the majority of my pain came from.

So I decided to take matters into my own hands. I was determined to heal my gut. First off, I had to discover the problem. So I tried Isolation diets. I started off with gluten. Surely the Devil; Bread must be the problem! It had… no measurable effect. Then I tried cutting out Dairy. I had had a slight allergy to milk since I was a child, so this helped somewhat, but, I still wasn't quite well. Then, I cut out meat.

It was as if the heavens opened up and the Hallelujah Chorus started up. Within a week, I no longer felt that nausea that had become my constant companion.I could function like a normal person again! My stomach issues were receding, my headaches were gone, and I was able to get out of bed again.

Now, the trouble was learning how to cook for myself, so that I did not miss the foods I ate normally because I did NOT want to exist solely on Cucumbers and Kale! No offense to Cucumbers and Kale, I love them, but, sometimes a girl needs a saucy chicken wing now and again. Thankfully, I'm an excellent cook! (Not to brag or anything!) I went online and started searching for recipes. Vegan Burgers, Wings! You can find anything online nowadays.

But I wanted to make them my own. I collected, I dissected and I improved everything that I found. Soon I was making my own recipes and collecting them for future use.

Not only that, but I learned HOW to teach other people how to create a recipe. (Just ask me how to make a Banging veggie wrap! Go ahead! Don't be shy!)

Recently, I noticed that other people were searching for new ways to transition into healthier living, so I decided to start Lodielocks Life

The reason I cut meat out of my diet.
